Use Credit Cards to Your Advantage

Over at JohnChow.com, John has a great post about why you should never pay by cash that you should be sure to check out.

As John mentions in the article, this approach to spending does require that you are someone that lives below their means and pays the entire credit card balance in full each month. Unfortunately it seems that a good deal of people do not fall into those categories and can easily find themselves in trouble by spending too much on their cards.

For some time now, I have been following this approach to try and use my main rewards credit card as much as possible. Our regular purchases are typically made with this credit card and the monthly bills that allow for payment by credit card are setup to automatically bill this card. The only real exception for me is that I make all of my gasoline purchases on my BP Visa card, as that offers a more significant rebate when purchasing gas at a BP location.

As with most things in life, this is not for everyone but those that can work it correctly can receive a nice reward for doing so.
